about

"I’m just like going straight into darkness with The Crystals "He Hit Me..." that’s also going to bridge into Lana Del Rey’s "Ultraviolence." My reasoning had to do with being attracted to both of these tracks at a very different point in my life, Lana Del Rey directly references The Crystals track in Ultraviolence, and at the origin of my project, one of the first songs I made was a noise riff on Ultraviolence. The Crystals track also has this weird thing with romanticism and Domestic Violence that has always been controversial but is also rooted in actual experience. So I’m playing with how distorting the lyrics and vocals can depict something more honest" - Sam An (Lana Del Rabies
