about

To celebrate 10 years of Related Records, here is a compilation that has been requested by D&H fans for years. It's a collection of songs that the duo (Ryan & Andrew) have covered/made popular through there career.

Some of you might not know this, but there were many different incarnations of Ryan & Andrew before settling on Drunk & Horny from 2010-2017

First was Night Wolf (where they wore track jackets+sunglasses did covers/originals/improvised songs that were played aggressively/offensively on cheap keyboards later adding Andrews brother Tristan to play drums) 2004-2009

Then Ryan and Andrew started playing restaurants and coffee shops under the name "The Quest" (Ryan would wear a paper hat because they were working as a soda jerk at the time, they were trying to "break into" the restaurant musician scene and had a list of 30-40 covers they would play as well as 20-30 original songs.) 2009-2010

There was also "The Boys" which consisted of Ryan singing some covers (but mostly originals) with a different group of musicians accompanying them. Many of those songs would go on to be a regular part of the Drunk & Horny catalog. - himynameisryan.bandcamp.com/album/the-boys-03-2009-11-2010

Drunk & Horny started after a split CDR the two recorded in 2009 at The Lime Or Lemon House in the Coronado Neighborhood in downtown Phoenix. - himynameisryan.bandcamp.com/album/split - For the "album release show" they did a song writing battle of all original material > having the audience vote on which song was better after each of them got to play a song. The truth is though, that since Ryan and Andrew were living together at the Lime or Lemon house, they helped each other with writing and recording all the songs they did.

After that performance they decided to try recording a new album as "The Quest" but after Ryan wrote a disgusting song about a night of debauchery Andrew told them about (which was titled "Drunk and Horny) they decided to settle on that name with each of them taking on the personalities of "Drunk" (Andrew) and "Horny" (Ryan) and once the matching outfits were decided upon, the group started playing shows in the fall of 2010 until parting ways in 2017.

Illustrations by David Bessent (these were the original faces he did for the "Songs In The Key Of Stink" 7 inch - drunkandhorny.bandcamp.com/album/songs-in-the-key-of-stink > which Ryan and Andrew liked but, agreed "didn't really look like us." David was murdered in 2018 but was a good friend and did art for many of the releases/projects for Ryan and Andrew)

Lettering, Design and track order by Ryan Avery

Track 1 is a recording for a reoccurring song/bit that Conan O'Brien used to do on his late night show that D&H would burst into all the time when performing together.

Track 2 is what started it all, we heard about "The Henson Stitch" compilation - heirloomrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-henson-stitch and wanted to do something for it.

Track 3 is a song D&H were obsessed with after hearing a rendition of it on an old barbershop quartet cassette Ryan got from a thrift store. This track is the earliest recording of the song from 1925 as performed by Cliff Edwards, but it was originally written by Harry M. Woods a few years earlier.

Track 4 is a song Andrew introduced to Ryan when he got really into the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and covered their version of the song but while working on this compilation Ryan found out it was actually originally performed by Billy Jones and Ernest Hare and their version has a few extra verses/different lines that were exciting to find out about so that's why its included.

Tracks 5-6 were recorded for the "Tristan Jemsek: Pure Gold" compilation - puregold.bandcamp.com/album/tristan-jemsek-pure-gold which is a compilation of people around the US covering songs written by Tristan Jemsek for his birthday. We went with two deep cuts. "Drummer In My Chest" (sometimes just titled "Drummer") was originally released on a CDR by Uggamugga called "Zach Burba Sessions" or something. and "Peacocks on Dayton" is a Gilmore Grrls song that was never released (this is a live recording from when Gilmore Grrls played at The T.V. Set, in Phoenix) that was going to be part of a whole album of songs about The Coronado neighborhood. Ryan & Andrew were obsessed with these songs/concept but it unfortunately never happened.

Track 7-9 Were covered for the first Drunk & Horny album "A Drunk & Horny Evening" - drunkandhorny.bandcamp.com/album/a-drunk-horny-evening

Tracks 10-13 were covered for the second Drunk & Horny album "A Drunk & Horny Pool Party" - drunkandhorny.bandcamp.com/album/a-drunk-horny-pool-party-with-ryan-andrew This is also the very first official release on Related Records!

Track 14 was recorded for the "Fuck Being (Positive): A Tribute To Charles Bronson" compilation - relatedrecords.bandcamp.com/album/fuck-being-positive-a-tribute-to-charles-bronson

Track 15 was covered for the B-Side of the "Fight The Moon" Single - drunkandhorny.bandcamp.com/album/fight-the-moon-with-ryan-andrew

Tracks 16-22 were covered for the 3rd Drunk & Horny album "Drunk & Horny Under The Covers" - drunkandhorny.bandcamp.com/album/under-the-covers-with-ryan-andrew which actually ended up just being a collection of lost recordings and b-sides.

Tracks 23-25 are songs D&H covered live all the time but never recorded themselves. Though there is video of these songs being performed by D&H on Youtube. or something.
